AI Empowering Smart Medical Electronics: Innovations in DICOM and FHIR Standards Seminar

In recent years, the integration of AI into medical electronics has raised significant discussions regarding compatibility with existing development standards and protocols such as DICOM and FHIR, as well as the challenges and new issues emerging from this convergence. This seminar invites companies developing products compliant with DICOM/FHIR standards to share their experiences, including challenges faced and benefits gained. Additionally, an international technology leader will present the specialized configurations of hardware and software infrastructure (e.g., data centers, IPC) required to support AI-powered medical computing scenarios. The event will conclude with a presentation by a medical center, discussing how international standard compliance influences procurement decisions for adopting new medical products.

Modern medical data is characterized by diversity, velocity, and volume, often exceeding the capabilities of traditional systems. To address this, standardized frameworks such as FHIR and DICOM are essential for data integration and collaboration. Microsoft's Azure platform and tools like Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI Health Insights, and Text Analytics for Health leverage AI to enable rapid data processing and intelligent insights, enhancing diagnostic efficiency and patient interaction experiences.

The DICOM standard plays a pivotal role in digital pathology and AI applications by offering a structured imaging framework that improves data interoperability and diagnostic accuracy. For instance, using digital scanners integrated with AI platforms can quickly generate structured imaging data for use in cervical smear screening, significantly reducing physicians' workloads while enhancing accuracy. The combination of DICOM and HL7 standards facilitates cross-platform data sharing, enabling comprehensive solutions from image capture to diagnostic reporting. Moving forward, promoting data standardization and collaboration among medical institutions will be critical for advancing smart healthcare.
