Fujifilm Integrates Advanced Ultrasound Technology to Boost Lung Cancer Diagnostics

25Jun

Europe | 2024 – Fujifilm Healthcare Europe has announced the integration of advanced ultrasound technology in its high-end ultrasound system, the Arietta 750 FF ENDO, now compatible with a variety of endoscopic ultrasound devices. These include Fujifilm's ultrasound endoscopes (EG-580UR, EG-580UT, EG-740UT) and the linear ultrasound bronchoscope (EB-530US), marking a significant leap in medical imaging quality for lung cancer diagnosis.

The Arietta 750 FF ENDO leverages Fujifilm's state-of-the-art "eFocusing" transmission and reception technology, as well as its "Carving Imaging" image processing technology. This combination delivers enhanced clarity in ultrasound imaging, significantly improving diagnostic accuracy and instilling greater confidence in physicians managing complex cases.

Additionally, the system includes several diagnostic applications, such as Real-time Tissue Elastography (RTE), which visualizes tissue elasticity differences. It also supports Shear Wave Measurement to quantify tissue elasticity, allowing medical professionals to assess pathological tissues with greater precision, particularly in tumor diagnostics.

Arietta 750 FF ENDO also introduces Dynamic Flow Imaging (DFI) technology, which significantly improves the resolution of low-velocity blood flow, making previously hard-to-detect vascular conditions more visible. This is especially valuable for lung cancer diagnosis and staging, where accurate image-guided lymph node biopsies are crucial.

Samiran Dey, Head of Fujifilm's Pulmonology and Synapse 3D Surgery division, emphasized that this update allows current Arietta 750 users to fully utilize Fujifilm's EBUS (endobronchial ultrasound) technology. It offers a new solution for physicians requiring a standalone EBUS system, and Dey highlighted that this advancement is critical for early lung cancer diagnosis and treatment planning.
